Description:

Mountain Raid is a NEW daylight Co-Op map with no fog. I made this map to play as a single player map in that it takes you linearly though the map using random objectives. I wanted a map that I could play with my kids to teach tactics and have a great time. You progress through the wooded mountain setting rescuing a pilot, retrieving intel and escorting the intel carrier to the extraction point which he alone can open. I did this to promote playing through the map together.

This is an updated version of the one I just posted.

This map is extremely difficult to beat alone. I recommend setting the
server to 15 minutes though more time is desirable with few players. There
are 11 player slots; six 18C, one 18Z, an M24, an M82, and two SPR Snipers.
This is a sniper map! I love playing the 18C on single shot with
suppressor for long range kills. The OpFor are more accurate as you go
through the map. You will have both long range kills and close quarters
combat. You will need to fight your way into the objective “B” building
and back out. Because this map is so large, full of trees and AI, I made
use of reinforcement triggering to keep the game playable. It is a
resource hungry map but well worth it with the abundance of terrain choices
and target rich environment. I modeled it after the mountains where I
live. It has very vertical terrain that isn’t always safe but is fun to
explore. Though it is missing the Fir, Hemlock, and Cedar trees we have
here, this map is the most like my stomping grounds that I have yet played.
I hope you all enjoy it.

I have this map running on the HQR Honor Server for a while. You can play
the map there with the IP 75.126.154.192

Thanks [-YaNSaG-] for the kind words. We have had a great time testing
this map. I really hope ppl will take the time to try it. I think they
will be surprised. When you can work the map as a team it is very fun.

Not extremely bad, but you need a good PC to run it, which is not what most
people have...

I recommend you add fog. It might not be your thing, but that should help
the "FPS dropping under 15 constantly" problem.

Also, Co-Op was a good idea, however (and I know you might not want to
because you wished for teamwork) this might be a better off map as 2 teams
playing against each other. I could see some really good battles going on
if you were to convert it as well...

Object C does not go!

It is a whole other map with fog. Not going that route.

Not a ballanced Multiplayer map. Whoever owns the observation shack owns
the map. I made this map to practice tactics. Long range shooting,
building entry and exiting etc. ...

Objective C must be taken by the intel carrier. The others must escort. =
teamwork. Too easy to have one group rush pilot one the intel and one the
gate for a win. Very hard to get all three unless you work together. That
was the point.

Sorry about the FPS. I have been playing AAO since 1.2 and most of that
time the best FPS I ever had was 30. I still had fun and learned to play
well. Now many ppl are stepping up to Core2 Duo CPUs and better video
cards. I'm hoping this map will be around long enough for the majority to
play it without "major" issues.

This is a very nice Coop map, probably the best coop map I have played. I
found one place where the creek drops off in the vally that a player can
get lodged in the logs. I also found one bush next to the exit portal that
you can get stuck behind when trying to jump down the concreet wall at the
exit. Overall I give the map a strong recommendation. Everyone check out
the waterfall, really nice graphics on it. Great Work !!!

Thanks HeavyDuty. That was a lot of fun hangin with you guys the other
night. I think that was the most players on the server I had seen. Made
the map all the more fun.

Yeah, use your scope on the water fall. It has a mix of transperant
textures and emitters.
Cya around.

Very fun map! Thanks and good job. Runs great on my PC. I know the
DAWGPOUND likes it. I'm going to suggest a BMP on other side of bridge,
(tunnel side). Four of us from the pound beat this map with great teamwork.
Add that armor and leave this map be, it's great.

Hooah! I am in agreement with FINN, Luckily I was one of those 4. Very nice
map, well laid out and detailed. The only change I can think of would be in
the bottom two sniper spots. M24 or .50 cal would be more suited to the
ranges in this map, with an AT4 on their back for the BMP that will be
added on the bridge ;)
Bye the way, nice job with the "MP5" look.

The bridge is on a trail, not a road. Kinda would look funny with BMP. I
was planning to enter tunnel at C and fight through comples to a reservour
and vally with BMPs but ran out of time on server to complete the map. :P

I'm glad you like it. Even though the MP5s show as AK47s in the
animations, they fire like MP5s amd look like them on other players. I
wish AA had an animation for them. I had tried shotguns but the ammo
loadouts wouldn't work for me. :(

Too many M24 and M82 rifles would make this a cake walk. I have played it
with nearly a full server and only 2 or 3 players left alive at the end.
You can win with only 2 or 3 players on the server but only if you play as
a team. That was my aim. Teamplay = points!

I was thinking a BMP right at tunnel entrance before C. Our team snipes so
well the end tends to be a cakewalk. Having armor over there would be a
nice way to cap it off. Maybe put the BMP in like the QRF on Interdiction?

I'm having problems with the stability of this map. We can play it for
about 10 minutes, then it crashes/freezes. I've tried it many times on
different servers. Anyone have any suggestions? It looks really cool.

The stability problem was due to a problem with the LAN setting. The map is
now stable, lots of fun, with no lag whatsoever for us.

-=G@RG@MEL=- --> what about a new PC?
