I think the most important thing that needs to be changed right now is the size of the gallery pictures. They are way too small, and can not be viewed clearly.

Well, I'd like to see an actual forum within mission depot, not a link leading to AA.com

Also, maybe have a page with maps that are currently being tested, links to DL them ,and server ips to test em.

Other than that, this site is teh bomb.

I'm working on setting up a new site specifically for that purpose. The site will be primarily for mappers to get a chance to do some live-fire testing of their Work-In-Progress maps. Developers can upload their WIP and reserve timeslots on my AA server (dedicated, highspeed). Players who wish to try the new map and offer feedback to the level designer can register as beta testers and signup to test maps during their respective timeslots.

I'll be posting the address when it's online. Will be up before the new year.

Support for larger screenshots is a must. The current size doesn't do the new maps justice. Thanks as always for listening! :)

Three suggestions:

More than a 1000 character limit (I always have to make sentence fragments)

Bigger screenshots.

Lastly, Im not sure you can do this, but a page of maps that are considered by their makes 'Undergoing Revision' and links to download them so people can have a look around for bugs, etc., would be very helpful.

People wouldn't have to use this page, but if they wanted people to beta test for them, it would simplify it a lot.

Thanks for listening to the suggestions.

I too would love a forum of some sort. I want to know how to ask a question of the "reviewers" I want to make a DM map. A map with no objectives, of any sort. A last man standing map. I have the basics already done, but one of my clan pointed out if it didn't get approved, it wouldn't get used. So who do I ask, and how do I find out if a DM has a chance of approval? It is the only thing that AA doesn't have, yet.

it would be nice if the maps could be could be filtered/flagged (Concept,Alpha, Beta, release [approval stages])

Some of the maps posted look pretty complete and others are in very preliminary stages.

Would be nice to be able to collaborate as well, "Here's a full building [doors, windows, interior ] to replace the BSP on your map" or a repository where people could share map components/objects.

It would also be nice to have an approval process for map assets [sounds, textures etc]

been waiting a long time for this, glad to see so many getting involved. Big Thanks to Pragmatic & AA

There is an issue with the voting system for the maps that have been put up for review/approval. Without knowing many people are clicking on the "Vote" button intending to vote either for or against the map and instead they cast a vote for the map with no option to vote against. Without some clarification that one can ONLY vote for a map many are unintentionally voting for maps they do not like. I did this once but I know many have done so as well.

I would highly recommend having a vote for and a vote against button.

Some feedback on this great site:

The vote system can be confusing (as UncleBuck explained above).

I too would like to see bigger screenshots if possible.

Also, I really would like to see some better screenshot navigation, such as NEXT or PREVIOUS buttons (rather than having to close each image, then select the next, etc.) Super bonus points for a nice image gallery 'slideshow' type of image viewer for each mission (like the setup on our home page Gallery section: http://www.americasarmy.com/gallery/scnBig.php?id=1306).

Keep up the good work! (AAMD Admins and Community Devs) :)

Sorry, you guys also need a confirmation on the map upload system. To say that the map was recieved, and will be reviewd shortly, or something as such. Because I think I submitted a map, and I think it uploaded I'm not sure, it didn't give me an error. But it also just went to the same page. I uploaded a new version today hopeing that it would say I uploaded it and no luck. I think I subbmitted 2 maps to you, both of which are the same map, but the latests one I uploaded is the one to review. Sorry for that.

I have started a thread at the General Mission Editing forum to discuss the approval process and map submissions to Mission Depot.

http://forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?t=243747&page=1&highlight=

I think this discussion will be useful for players who wants to test new maps and also to mappers who wants to have their maps included in the Missions Depot.

Approval for display on Mission Depot means that it has been reviewed for Screen Shot(s), Description and Content Name. It is then passed on to Level(s) 1, 2 and 3 for various levels and focus of approval, mostly related to gameplay.

The intent of Mission Depot was always for this to be a Community site, so if you don't feel that something is worthy of being part of the America's Army experience, that is the kind of feedback you should provide on the submissions. The more creative and popular of the submissions will be given a weighted review as it moves up the approval process.

Thanks for the feedback.

PRSOL, I would make it possible to upload a new version to your mission and edit the mission description. I've been working non-stop on bugs for my map and have released another version but I'm not able to replace my old version with my new version. If this were made possible, it would be great for map makers.

I agree with {FC}Spartacus{B} I have found a bunch of bugs with my maps and there is NOT way of editing them, or even telling if you've subbmited the map.

Another idea for updating maps is after something gets approved for Level 1,2,3 status, the author gets a chance to upload a fixed version of the map before they are advanced further in the approval process.

We need a better way to track the maps that are here,
personal rankings would be really nice to have, "show new maps" ala show new forum threads, ranked/weighted voting system, search/sort maps by rank.

Traffic is increasing steadily here, we need some better tools to filter it

PRSOL,

It would be fantastic if we could "bookmark" or "watch" certain missions for updates or keep them in a special folder after logging in. This way we can track the most promising maps out there, without having to check each page individually each time. Thanks!

some1 said that it would be good to be able to upload a newer version during pending... i dont think this is good because if u send it, it should be finsihsed...i believe u should stick with the gallery if u are still making it... and also this would make it possible to send one map at first and later a completely new one, which maybe wouldnt have gone through the earlier processes of accpetion.. just my opinion...

I think we need larger pictures, and I would also recommend to have at least 5 pictures from each map.
That way we all get a better "feeling" for the map!

I misspressed on a map, and accidently voted on it, wich made me realise that the voting system should be improved! Let there be a question like, "Do you really like to vote for this map?" poping up when voting.

Why not implement both positive and negative voting, and make a comment needed to be able to vote?
That way would all UT(Unreal Turnament) and other fast shooter freaks stop make insane maps since the most player here tends to be more serius and realistic, then player at "other" games!

As it is now, may "fast shooter fans" be able to vote in a totally crazy and unrealistic map, just because serius players canīt stop them because they donīt vote for the map and canīt vote against it, and the maps get enought votes to get pass and become official... (If the staff donīt have "admin" right to stop such a map).

Continuing from last post...

The Army must have serveral thousands of pictures take on real places where the army have been, why not put some of them in a gallery and inspire people tó build maps that really got the "army" feeling?
How does it really look in Irak? Afghanistan? Panama? Germany? N/S Korean border? And so on...

And finally, why donīt the team invite authors like Tom Clancy to desing their own maps, like somekind of "honor guest" map? It would be fun to see whet they would have thought of!

Yes, I know about the Rainbow Six game, but T.C. and the rest would only design a map, not the whole game... :-)

Finally done! :-)

No, its not, site seems to be a bit buggy, yesterday the entire mission upload progress was unavaliable, today it will let you fill in details but it wont upload the mission, it just starts loading and then bumps back to the upload screen.Bummer since I have a map waiting for upload.

I think you should allow Gallery Images to have longer descriptions. Personally, on some of my pictures on my Snowy Mountain map, I need to explain in more depth or write some of my abbreviations out so it makes perfect sense without any problems, however I cannot do that due to this limit of characters. Please make it at least about double the length, then at least I can fit in enough information for my Gallery Images to make complete sense.

Thanks for listening/reading,
DarK.

I uploaded my mission Extraction SE twice now but it's been a week and no sign of you guys actually recieving it. It still says that I haven't uploaded any missions. Is it because it is 17MB? I'll add my vote for the following suggestions:

1) Bigger screenshots: Current small screenshots make it impossible to gain any understanding about what a specific map really looks like.

2) Voting system NEEDS to be changed: First, we need the possibility to vote both for and AGAINST a specific map. There are seriously horrid maps in the top 10 currently. Second, the voting system should confirm a specific vote, i.e. it should ask "Are you sure you want to vote for/against this map".

THANK YOU.

Finally Pr-sol was allowed to do something constructive for the community which will most certainly add entertainment and longevity to this game!

I would like to congratulate with all of you for the work you are doing with MBS and now with the mission depot.

Regarding the mapmakers: remember that this game is tasked to deliver the Army core values. Do not build maps that would render this game another Counterstrike Clone please.

Try to simulate real Army and Special Forces missions and i am sure that if they meet the standards of quality and balance, they will be authed very quickly.

Hooah!

I think some of the weapons being un silenceable when your on the US spots should be change so they can put on a silencer but no m203 but leave the IF forces the way they are. In short give all 18c or whatever slots a chance to have a silencer but restrict the use of the m203 if you like. Just my 2 cents, i like the way silenced guns sound

Personally, I'd like to see 2 different sections for map submissions (and various subsections in these sections). It would be nice to see a section dedicated to "AA Style Objective maps", and a SEPARATE section for fantasy/deathmatch maps or maps that "don't fit the gameplay style" that we've all become accustomed to while playing AA.

Subsections in each of these sections should include Beta submissions where people can submit or "showcase" their creations, and a section for finished POLISHED maps that have been found to be bug free, and with no further revisions forthcoming.

By implementing these 2 sections (and the subsections), we could eliminate the "These won't be approved", or "This map sucks" kind of comments, and actually ENCOURAGE modders to continue their map-making through positive reinforcement, not negative criticism.

Hi, I would just like to see as already mentioned..

1. Seperate sections for SERIOUS maps and a section for well lets just say not so serious maps.

2. Full Size images in the gallery when you click the thumbnails. NOT a 844x547 IMAGE that cuts half way down and forces the user to save an UNTITLED.BMP IMAGE if they want to see the full image.

I dont understand why u have done this because it loads the entire image but only displays half of it, if that.

What about a scroll bar atleast?

Thank you.

The Devs have totally ignored the major bugs in coop maps since their release.
Instead of fixing what could have been a great map, we get more buggy maps added
It was a good idea adding coop to the game, but it hasn't been followed up.
Maybe it's time to hand Snakeplain over to the community of map makers to fix.
And maybe it's about time to add more honor gaining coop maps.
Why maps like Sledgehammer haven't been passed for honor yet is beyond me,
If Snakeplain was entered into the mission depot it would still be here, and deservedly so.
